The University of Sydney Energy Research Event on 28th May 2015

Faculty of Engineering and IT at the University of Sydney, through its School of Electrical and Information Engineering and Clean Intelligent Energy Networks Research Cluster, successfully launched a research event on the 28th May 2015 to present the opportunities and challenges of power and energy research.

Opened by Professor Archie Johnston, the event also celebrates the recently established Tsinghua University – The University of Sydney Energy Networks Research Alliance.

The VIP speakers of the event were The Hon Warwick Smith AM and The Hon Paul Fletcher MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Communications on behalf of the Hon Ian Macfarlane MP, Minister for Industry & Science. Professor David Hill presented the opportunities and challenges on power and energy engineering. Professor Joe Dong introduced the strategic move and visions of energy research at Sydney towards a research institute. The event also featured a panel discussion lead by Professor Hans Hendrischke with Ms Sophie Chen, Mr Allan Farrar, Mr Bruce Harwath, Dr Wei Li, and Mr Weiwei Shi.
The event was also supported by Faculty of Arts, China Studies Centre, Sydney Business School and Sydney Law School.
