Awards for Research Project Work - Postgraduate Students

Purpose of the Awards

The purpose of the postgraduate research project work awards are:
(a) To recognise excellence in postgraduate research project work;
(b) To encourage postgraduate students to present their research project work in an exhibition display format in a professional manner;
(c) To assist industry to learn about the postgraduate research project work being done at the Schools of Information Technologies and Electrical and Information Engineering.

The 2008 Awards for Postgraduate Project Work

Approximately twelve industry-sponsored prizes for postgraduate research work were presented at the 2007 Research Conversazione on 26 October. The prizes were for the best projects in the following categories

* Addressing Society's Needs
* Advancing Scientific Knowledge
* Collaboration with Industry
* Solving an Industry Problem
* Next Generation Applications (Computing)
* Next Generation Applications (Information Technologies)
* Next Generation Applications (Telecoms)
* Next Generation Applications (Other)
* Potential for Commercialisation (Computing)
* Potential for Commercialisation (Information Technologies)
* Potential for Commercialisation (Telecoms)
* Potential for Commercialisation (Other).

The Organising Committee envisages awards will be made in the same categories for the 2008 Conversazione but reserves the right to make some amendments dependent on the number of posters submitted.

Value

$250 for each award accompanied by a certificate.

Projects authored by a Postgraduates and his or her Supervisor

In the case of projects jointly authored by a postgraduate student and his or her supervisor, only the postgraduate will be considered to be the "winner" of the award.

Limitation on number of Awards which can be won by a Postgraduate Student

Because the Foundations wish to acknowledge the good work being done throughout the postgraduate student body, any one postgraduate student will be eligible to receive only one of the awards for research project work presented at any one conversazione.
