Advice to Postgraduates presenting at the Conversazione

The 2009 Research Conversazione will be held on Friday 30 October, 2009, from 12.00 to 4.30 pm.

Combined SIT/SEIE Research Conversazione

This year we will be having a combined SIT/SEIE Research Conversazione exhibition in the SIT building level 1 Winter Garden on Friday, 30 October 2009. There will be around 40 fourth year and 80 postgraduate projects on display at this venue.

The Conversazione is an opportunity for students to meet industry people who might be interested in their work and an opportunity for students to win an award for excellence in project work. Several students have found employment through contacts made at the conversaziones. Around 100 industry guests attended the 2007 Conversazione.

Presentation of Awards

1. The EIE and IT postgraduate research project awards  will be presented on the day of the Conversazione at 4.00 pm. Thirteen fourth year awards and twelve postgraduate awards  will be presented at the combined SIT/SEIE exhibition in the SIT Building level 1 Winter Garden.

Projects authored by a Postgraduate and his or her Supervisor
In the case of projects jointly authored by a postgraduate student and his or her supervisor, only the postgraduate will be considered the "recipient" of any award.

Limitations on Awards
Any one postgraduate student may win only one of the postgraduate research project awards in any particular year.

Appropriate Dress for Conversazione
All presenters presenting at the Conversazione are advised to dress as if they were going to a job interview because a job offer might come out of your presentation. Several students have been offered jobs following past Conversaziones.
